  • Scientific Principles of Substance Use and Co-Occurring Disorders
  • Evidence-Based Screening and Assessment
  • Evidence-Based Treatment, Counseling, and Referral
  • Professional, Ethical, and Legal Responsibilities (minimum 6 hours SUD ethics)

Please see the “Package Contents” section below for the complete list of courses included in this package.

Certification Requirements

  • Education Required: CADC: Associate’s degree minimum in a relevant field covering the ADC domains.
CAAC: High school diploma or GED.
  • Work Experience: CADC: 5,000 hours of addiction-specific work experience.
CAAC: 8,000 hours of addiction-specific work experience.
  • Supervised Hours: CADC: 250 hours of on-the-job clinical supervision, with a minimum of 10 hours in each of the 4 ADC domains.

  • State Exam: Passing score on the IC&RC ADC exam.

Both the CAAC and CADC are IC&RC reciprocal credentials. They share the same 300-hour training requirement but differ in education, work experience, and supervision requirements (see fields above).
