Kentucky CADC Certification Requirements and Course Package

What This Package Covers
Kentucky requires 300 hours of addiction counselor education for the CADC and LADC. CEU Matrix’s Kentucky CADC/LADC package covers 294 of the 300 required hours:

Certification Requirements
- Education Required: CADC: A bachelor’s degree in any field is required. LADC: A master’s degree (minimum 30 credit hours in behavioral sciences) is required.
- Work Experience: 4,000 hours of supervised work experience in substance use disorder counseling. Hours may be reduced based on degree level.
- Supervised Hours: 200 hours of direct clinical supervision with a minimum of 10 hours in each of the 4 content domains.
- State Exam: Passing score on the IC&RC ADC examination.
Important Notes
The CADC and LADC are issued by the Kentucky Board for Certification of Alcohol and Drug Counselors (KCADCA). The CADC is for bachelor’s-level professionals; the LADC is for those with a 30-credit-hour master’s degree (the LCADC requires a full 60-hour master’s degree). Kentucky requires a minimum of 20 continuing education hours per year and at least 50% of renewal hours must be earned in live, face-to-face formats.
Renewal Requirements
60 continuing education hours every 3 years; at least 3 hours must cover ethics; at least 6 hours must cover suicide training (required once every 6 years). A minimum of 20 CEUs must be completed per year. At least 50% of renewal hours must be live and face-to-face.
