Connecticut Counselor in Training Initial Certification -97 Hours
Package Education Hours: 97 Hours

- No supervised hours are required for the CIT credential.
- State Certification Exam
- CITs are eligible to sit for the CAC exam, but passing is not required for the CIT credential.

Connecticut requires 100 hours of addiction-specific education for the CIT. CEU Matrix’s CIT package covers 97 of the 100 required hours (maximum allowed via CCB-approved distance learning):
- Ethics (CCB-approved): 12 hours
- Co-Occurring Disorders: 30 hours (minimum)
- Addiction-Specific Electives: 55 hours
The remaining 3 hours must be completed through the CCB Certification Process Overview Workshop (live only; no equivalent courses accepted).
Connecticut CAC (Standard and Provisional) Initial Certification - 225 hours

- Work Experience Hours Required
- CAC-Standard: 6,000 hours of addiction-specific supervised work experience, including 2,000 hours of individual or group counseling. With a qualifying degree: Master’s (3,000 hours), Bachelor’s (4,000 hours), Associate’s (5,000 hours). CAC-Provisional: 2,000 hours of addiction-specific supervised work experience, including 1,000 hours of individual or group counseling.

- 300 hours with no less than 10 hours in each of the 8 performance domains (for both CAC-Standard and CAC-Provisional).
- State Certification Exam
- Passing score on the IC&RC ADC exam.

Connecticut Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor Initial Certification - 360 hours

- Degree / Education Required
- Master’s degree in a behavioral health field is required.
- Work Experience Hours Required
- 4,000 hours of supervised work experience specific to the AADC Job Analysis.
- Direct Supervision Hours
- 300 hours with no less than 10 hours in each performance domain.
- State Certification Exam
- Passing score on the IC&RC AADC exam.
