The Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board credentials chemical dependency professionals at several levels. CEU Matrix can provide the specific course packages for certification at all these levels. All of our course packages were put together with full approval of the Board and fulfill the education grid requirements of their respective credentials.

For those of you without experience or a degree the Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) is available (High School diploma or GED required). This credential will allow you to get started in the field by counseling under the supervision of a licensed counselor. Upon completion of our 40 hour CDCA Phase I (Preliminary) package you will be eligible to complete an online application with the Board. After holding the CDCA Phase I for at least 10 months you can then move forward with the CDCA Phase II, which requires 30 additional hours of coursework.

In order to become a licensed counselor you must hold a degree. The LCDC II requires an Associate’s degree in a behavioral science or nursing OR a Bachelor’s degree in any field; the LCDC III requires a Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science or nursing; and the LICDC requires a Master’s degree in a behavioral science. Additionally, these licensed credentials require 180 hours of chemical dependency specific education. We have a package providing these hours and a reduced 110 hour package for individuals who already hold a CDCA. Work experience and completion of the ADC examination (arranged through the state Board) are also required for the licensed counselor credentials.
